Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday one and all! Thank you Beverly for hosting the pink party each week. You will find all the pink participants at How Sweet The Sound.

Last weekend while at a rummage sale I came across this old and worn quilt. It didn't have a price on it so I decided to put it down since I was at the beginning of the sale.  When I was done I had a handfull of things including some candleholders, a small pot and 5 books. When I checked out the total was only $2.75 so I decided to ask to one of the nice ladies taking the money about the quilt. She wanted to know what I thought it was worth and I had absolutely NO idea. She said "How about $3?". I said SOLD!

It was my favorite find of the weekend. It's a wee bit ratty and whoever sewed it was by no means an expert but I think it's pretty special nonetheless. It will be going to the booth soon where hopefully it will find a new home.

If any of you missed it, there is a new blog up and running all about our booth, All That Jazz, called "All That Jazz Vintage". It is mostly an endeavor by my Cousin and I, but we are hoping to get our Mom's to post on it occasionally too. They are still a part of it even if it's taking second fiddle to horseback riding at the moment! So please stop by and see us!

Happy Pink Saturday and have a superb weekend my Loveleighs!

Oh what a beautiful quilt for sure. I can see many things made out of that one quilt. What a treasure it is.

It won't last long in your booth. How is your booth going sweet friend? I hope you are still having fun with it. That is part of the deal, having fun doing something that you love to do.

Hope you have a beautiful Pink Saturday Sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

OMG...$3.00. I can't believe it! I would have bought it just to cut it up and make other things from it. I bought one on a yard sale to reline an old truck that I revamped. It turned out beautiful.

Hi Sares, I'll be checking on your booth blog. I just rented a space too, was not planned at all, it just happened and I am excited. It is actually enclosed in a room, a lttle larger than a 10 x 11 and I can't wait to fix it up. I would definitely need some tips from your store....Christine

Oh Sares, you have found a beauty in this dear old quilt! I have a few like this and when I take them out, I wonder about the women who sat and sewed them together so long ago. Who were they? What were their dreams? What were their lives like?
Love them!
Hugs,
Coralie

Oh, just lovely, Sares. We are moving to CA where I believe they will have "booths" for rent. I have three or four, terrible that I can't remember what I have, quilt tops and several squares stitched in the 1940s. I SO hope I can have my own little retail endeavor when we get there! Going to check your other blog.

The charm of this quilt is priceless! To think of the hands that made this! What thoughts went through her their mind as the person sat and stitched? Who was it for? My grandfather was a wheat farmer in Saskatchewan and he made these old "bed quilts" he called them after farming all day. What a find Sares. Precious for sure. Hope your summer has been relaxing and fun, all rolled into one! Hot day head, wear your sunny hat!

I love all the fabrics they chose and "worn" look of it! I bet it is an old feed sack quilt like another poster said.
I have a quilt like that somewhere (or my mom does) from my Nana Vi, it has a flannel backing. I love it and hope to use it again someday. It needs a little repair!
