Treasure Hunt....

I spent last Saturday on an early morning treasure hunt. Our local community has a garage sale event at the fairgrounds twice a year. Over 400 garage sale booths in one location. My Sister, Aunt and I got there at 8:00 sharp, right before it opened. The line was long but moved really quickly once it opened.

It was a mix of good junk and bad junk. Just like most other garage sale experiences. I did find a few things like this cool vintage fan above.

I also spotted this cool barnwood mirror tucked away in a corner. I was eyeing it and the seller came down on the price. I was shocked because it was early in the sale. So I snatched it up. My only complaint was having to haul it back to the truck. It was heavy, thank goodness for my big sis!

I also bought this fantastic chippy bench. Got a good deal on it too! I almost didn't want to part with it but I did.

This iron table was the last thing I bought before I called it good. The merchandise I got required 3 trips back to the truck and frankly I was too exhausted to pack any more. I did get a few more things I'll share later. These are just the things that made their way to Jazz already.

While leaving the parking lot I got a call from our shop owner telling me I had sold the big dining room table, a chair and a coffee table. YIKES. I have been whining about not selling any furniture for months and then it all sells in a matter of days. And I have nothing on standby. Serves me right. I had to borrow a small bookcase for display purposes only to help fill the void.  Michelle and I managed to pull everything together on Sunday. It only took 4 hours!  By the way, these photos are from our booth after we finished adding new merchandise last weekend. They were NOT from the garage sales I purchased them at. Trust me when I tell you it was NOT that fancy! That's okay, it was fun anyway. Even with the cold. And the rain. And the endless trips back and forth. I'd go again tomorrow!

Update...remember I just told you I was having lack of furniture issues. I got another call today. The bookcase we have been borrowing from our shop owner since last May has sold. Now I have to find somewhere to put all this...

Lord have mercy.

When it rains it pours! I guess it's a good kind of problem to have. We have the option to borrow another bookcase and I did just buy a table so hopefully we can make it work. But MAN I need some deals on some furniture! Time to hit some more garage and estate sales PRONTO!

***Be sure to see my sidebar and follow the button to our giveaway at All That Jazz!

Oh dear! I have to admit I love that shelf but in a way it doesn't work in our space. Or maybe I'm just tired of it, LOL! It will make someone happy in it's new home. I am excited to see what you come up with, take pictures! You didn't tell me you got a new table~ is it dining or end? We got a lot done on Sunday, sorry I wasn't as motivated, with my cold developing I was a bit cranky!
I am already collecting too, will send you an email!

Hi Sares,
I can so relate to the booth dilemna. I have been whinning about not selling any big pieces of furniture lately too, and I will probably be faced with the no back up panic!!!
There is an auction Friday night selling lots of already painted, yes already painted, shabby chic furniture. It's going to be a knock down drag out battle to win any of it!!! LOL!

I think your booth looks wonderful and I love your finds. It's always good to read your posts because I understand the booth life.

hugs
Sissie

Hi Sares! I'm so happy to find you and your blog! 1st let me say great finds!
It's a mixed blessing sometimes with the furniture sales isn't it?. It's great to sell the big pieces but then you have to scramble all over again to fill up the space *winks* And yes it was at Catty Wumpus!! Don't you just love that seller? I love her other booth space at the Shady Lady as well. Do you happen to know Shannon from Shannon's antiques by any chance? She's a friend of mine and I'm in love with her store also! Her daughter has the Shady Lady. The next time I'm in Centrailia (about once a month) I'll certainly look up your space! It looks like you have some wonderful stuff! It's so nice to find a blogger who's almost a neighbor *winks* Vanna...your newest follower.

Hi Sares,

You did well! love all the treasures in the photographs.
Also neat that you have made some good sales and much luck with sorting out all the merchandise that had been on the shelf.

Happy Thursday

Thanks for visiting!

I don't think I've ever visited you here before...love it!

Your header is great...just love Anne with an E!

I wish I had the same problem you are having with all your furniture going at once! Maybe it will rub off on me!

Good to see things are going well for you Sares. You really have a great eye for finds and love that you share them all...but very envious too!

Things have been quite hectic here and am finding little time for blogging, and I miss you all. I am just hoping the second half of the year begins to slow down.

Warmest Hugs,

Congrats on the sales and the new finds. I'm sure it can be frustrating having to move all the displays around. But at least there are sales - and that is a good thing! Theresa

Maybe you can use the old cinder block/wood book shelve idea...at least no one will buy away from you! i have been think of getting rid of my barnwood shelves from my office for awhile. I will send you a picture of them next week. if you are interested in using them...I could bring them up at the end of May! Since I don't want to "sell" them...you will not have this issue again for awhile ;)
