Shopping Primitive Style
Two months ago, while shopping in the town's only remainingbook store, I came across the little flier below. I was immediately
intrigued and made a mental note to remember this weekend
had an event I wanted to attend. As the date drew nearer I posted
it on the fridge.

Finally, May 2 arrives and I make plans to go, along with my
Dusty Devoted Auntie, my Cowboy Uncle, Graceful Cowgirl
Mom and my Nana. We were quite the group, hoping for
sunshine, but stuck with a bit of good old springtime Washington
drizzle. Our spirits were not dampened as we walked down the
long drive to be greeted by the old vintage pickup truck as we
first arrived ( the sky was not freakishly red, I altered it).
Oh glory be, so many wonderful sights to see. What wondersfor the eyes to behold. Where shall the eyes linger first?
There were many old bikes, they made me think of the old bikeI've been riding for the last two weeks with the Pirate Princess.
It is on loan to me from my Nana, who has been storing it for
my Desert Rose Auntie, for the last 40+ years. You may not
get it back now Auntie, it's too much fun to ride. It is a bit of a
rust bucket though, I'm thinking of painting it pink or red, what's
your vote?
Let's ride away from the bikes shall we, we've much more to see!Like all the pretty spring flowers for sale. Brights and pastels,
pick your pleasure.
Now this lady here, she was the piece de resistance. Isn't shemarvelous! She's sure pretty to look at, but I wouldn't be up for
traveling in her for any length of time. She makes a loveleigh
yard ornament though!
there were lots and lots of tricycles for sale, so so cute. Theywould make rather adorable yard ornaments too.
Miscellaneous window frames and other salvage items...
A little bath for the birdies, filled naturally by the rain earlierthat morning.
This pretty tree was planted smack dab in the middle of theoutside sale items, it was gorgeous, still damp from the rain.
You've got to love this high class bird house with it's own rockfireplace.
I left without buying anything that day, even though there waswhole shop that housed goodies for indoors. Handmade braided
rugs, soy candles, rustic furniture, old quilts, cast iron frying
pans and muffin tins, lanterns, chairs, baskets, and too many
other wonderful things to mention. I did happen to spot a little
something in the corner I've been looking for, but walked away
from it, what could it be...
THIS. This super duper, old paint chipped up, piece offantabulousness I was going to use as a nightstand. I ended up
going back the next day and it was still there-YEAH! I even got
got it for a lower price. Only one problem, it wouldn't fit in the
car when we went to load it. Who you gonna call? Dad. Dad to the
rescue. He jumped in his truck and drove the 15 miles to come
load it up, THANKS DAD!
I love all the paint colors on the top, but that doesn't mean thatit won't someday get painted white, or pink, or aqua... so many
choices. I just hope none of the current paint has lead in it!
So I said it was going to be a night stand right? Wrong. I got itin my bedroom and decided it would serve me best as a desk for
now. I love the way it turned out and I can see it across from
the bed, if it was right next to me how would I admire it, LOL!
I'll have to sit here to plan out some of my future posts. I thinkthis is a multi-purpose piece of furniture, I'm thinking desk,
nightstand, TV stand, kitchen island, on and on and on...
It will however, make it's way next to the bed someday becauseI tend to like to move the furniture around. I'm one of those
people.
So for now, I'll scoot on out of my loveleigh weekend, the ladiesthat have this event only do so a few times a year. The next one
is in the fall and they said it's their favorite one, I can't wait...

My blogging journey began last January. A few months before
that I had begun reading a blog written by my cousin at
Pony Girl Rides Again. I thought it looked like something I
might like to try and with little computer experience and not
much information, I took a blind leap of faith.
All at once, I went to Blogger and began my blog, Loveleigh
Treasures, as a private venture to play around in and for my
family to read. I was hooked!that I had begun reading a blog written by my cousin at

Oh, the fumbles, the frustrations, the fun. Trying to figure
out how to create on a blog while not even knowing how to cut
and paste, yes I'm embarrassed to admit it, was full of
challenges. However the possibilities for creative opportunity
it opened seemed endless.
Once I began to learn my way around, I helped my Aunt and
Mom set up blogs of their own. I think this is one of the things
I love the most about blogging, choosing the template, the
layout, the gadgets, pictures and banners, colors and fonts. I
can spend hours on the computer, on the hunt for new pictures,
artwork, gadgets and doo-dads to put on my blog. I'm always
moving things around and changing backgrounds and banners,
and cropping photos. I think I began this love of creating
layouts in High School while on the Yearbook staff for two
years. Art class was also my favorite subject in school and for a
while drawing was a lot of fun for me, but I wasn't passionate
about it and it has fallen by the wayside over the years.
Beginning a blog has opened a window to create I am LOVING!

Once I had been blogging for a couple of months, I decided to
expand my horizons again. I was feeling the need to reach out
to other bloggers in a more open forum, so I took Loveleigh
Treasures public. I haven't regretted it since!
Every day I continue to be amazed by how inventive and
talented you all are. The handmade pillows, aprons, tussie
mussies, the beautifully designed rooms, refurbished
furniture, paper crafts, and all of the stunning handmade
jewelery, they all inspire me to want to do better!
I am also amazed by all of the wonderful people that blog
and offer nothing but praise and encouragement to
others in their endeavours.
Blogging has also been an enormous blessing to my family.
It has allowed the 9 family members that have blogs (and those
that don't) to keep in closer contact with each other through
weekly postings of pictures and stories. This is a part of
each other's lives we would otherwise only here about a
few times a year during visits or phone calls.
I think the number one, most favorite, best, thing about
blogging, is hearing about the day to day lives of everyone out
there that blogs. All the little things, the family tales, the yard
sales, the travels, the recipes, the adventures, the troubles, I
love how it can turn strangers into friends. It's all too much fun
and I can't wait to see more, do more and to learn more with
you all.
So, my fellow blogging compadres, until we meet again,
I leave you with this loveleigh thought...
