Pink Saturday

Merry Pink Saturday everyone!

Today our pink mission is to tell of a favorite family Christmas
tradition. Somehow this tradition has to involve pink,
or as befitting the season...red.

As a child celebrating Christmas with my Mom's side of the family,
my favorite part wasn't all of the pretty presents wrapped
and placed under the tree...

It was the Christmas stockings. All red and fuzzy and lined up in their rows.
The nails they hung on were left up all year just waiting for them to make
their arrival each December. I loved all the tiny little gifts tucked inside.
You could end up with yummy smelling bars of soap, bath beads full of oil,
a pretty necklace or even a pair of socks. It didn't matter, it was all so much
fun to unwrap and discover what lay inside.

AS to the pictures, the first one was really of my Nana's tree one year.
How I wish I had that rag rug on the floor in front of it!

The second photo has my Dad in it, you gotta love those 70's
hair-do's and my cousin Paint Girl. There were 5 of us little girl
cousins running around in those days.

Thank you for strolling down memory lane with me and thank you to

Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for hosting Pink Saturday for us!

Can you believe this is out last Saturday before Christmas!!!

Happy Holidays all!

Oh, I remember those stockings!! WOW! I loved how the presents overflowed from under the tree, too. I think I recognize some of those boxes, even 30 years late, LOL! :) Can't wait to get together over the holidays!! I need to email you with some ideas!

DEAR SARES,
HAPPY PINK SATURDAY
YOUR DAD LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE BOY.....THE STOCKINGS WERE WONDERFUL.
YOUR HOUSE IS DECORATED SO VERY PRETTY. I LOOKED AT THE POST AFTER THIS ONE WITH THE BEAUTIFUL TREE AND GREENERY ON YOUR FRONT PORCH.
WHEN MY SON WAS LITTLE WE PUT THE TREE IN THE PLAYPEN AND HIM ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PLAYPEN....THEN THE LITTLE STINKER WAS FOUND TRYING TO PULL HIMSELF UP THE SIDE OF THE PLAYPEN LIKE SPIDERMAN...LOL...NOW THAT WE HAVE CATS MY DH HAS TO TIE IT WITH FISHING LINE TO THE CEILING AND THE WALL.
MY MOTHER USE TO PUT PECANS, PEANUTS, AN ORANGE, AN APPLE, RIBBON CANDY WHICH WAS BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT WITH THE COLORS...I CAN STILL TASTE IT. HOW SIMPLE LIFE WAS AS A CHILD. I USE TO TELL THE KIDS, DON'T WISH YOUR LIFE AWAY...ENJOY BEING A CHILD. YOU HAVE TO GROW UP SOON ENOUGH.
ALSO I WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR THE TIMES YOU STOPPED BY MY BLOG TO ENCOURAGE ME. YOU ALWAYS FIND THE TRUE BLESSINGS WHEN YOU GO THROUGH A TRADEGEY BECAUSE THEY STICK WITH YOU. I JUST WISH CHRISTMAS WOULD QUIETLY SLIP ON BY AND NOT SAY A WORD BUT AMY WOULD NOT WANT THAT. SHE WAS MY LIGHT OF EVERY HOLIDAY...I REALLY, REALLY MISS HER.
IF I DON'T MAKE IT BACK BY BEFORE, YOU HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND I WILL SEE YOU FOR THE NEW YEAR.
BLESSINGS

My heavens Sares your Dad only looks like a boy! I love the seventies burber striped chair LOL! Now that takes me back a few years for sure.
We used to hang our Christmas stockings at the foot of the bed and they were mostly filled with lollies, fruit and nuts with a few tiny presents like socks, nickers and the occasional Matchbox toy thrown in for good luck...we loved everything and it kept us quiet so Mum & Dad could sleep a little longer!!!
Happy Pink Saturday to you.
Warmest hugs,

Hi Sares,

Lovely post and I loved the tree of your Grandmas and the photo of your Dad and all the stocking waiting to be filled.
We used to have a pillowcase at the end of the bed and there would be some sweets and fruit, an Annual and a few small toys. This was such a fun time seeing what we got.

Happy Christmas
Hugs

Hi Sares!
First off, you are such a lucky girl to win the bear, all the way from down under no less. How GRAND is that?
Reading about the contents in your stocking reminded me of the Avon lady. Mom always tucked some Avon goody in my stocking, I was so thrilled with the little soaps, cream colognes, and pink hair brushes and bubble bath. My kids always thought the stockings were one of the best treats of Christmas! Keep warm, inside and out, Christmas day is almost here!

Oh Sares, I can totally relate to your dad. That is just what we all looked liked then, he looks so young and just as handsome too. I don't blame you for wanting the rag rug, my grandmother had a very large one and threw it away. This was many years ago now, but I bet is was hand made. I too love opening the stockings. They are the best part, you never know what lies in a small package, do you!!?? Merry Christmas my sweet friend and Happy Pink Saturday, I will see you in 2010, Char
