Gone With The Wind Celebration Ball!!!

Yeah, It's PARTY time! I've been waiting weeks for this, scouring
the Internet for ideas for this special occasion. Nikki from The Scarlett
Rose Garden is the HOSTESS that came up with this brilliant idea.
Gone With The Wind is, of course, one of my all time favorite movies.
I pulled it out to watch in preparation of this special event. It was a
true hardship to have to watch it for the 25th time.

I was torn between two of Scarlett's gowns. The Red Christmas Gown
and the Blue Portrait Gown. At the last minute the Blue Gown won
out. Barely. I'll have to wear the Red one for Christmas!!!

So here is my final selection. I loved this dress from the minute I saw
it hanging on Rhett's bedroom wall. I craned and stretched to catch
another, better glimpse of it. How I wish Scarlett had actually worn it.
That would have been SPLENDID! I could barely find any pictures or
copies of this masterpiece until I strolled into a little piece of blog HEAVEN
called soultalk777. Raphael is a collector of dolls and costumes. I became
smitten with these posed portraits of said collection. I asked if I could
use the portraits and was GRACIOUSLY given the green light. If you
love GWTW, you'll love this site. I never knew this type of collecting
was so popular or even possible. I highly recommend stopping in there,
you'll be glad you did!

Aren't "I" LOVELEIGH! These portraits were so beautiful I just had to
go with this BLUE dress. I could NOT resist. The temptation was strong,
I tell you.

I think she, "I', just glow. The richness of this Blue gown is gorgeous.
But that's just MY opinion! Thank you very much Raphael for the use
of your beautiful pictures and the dress, LOL! I promise to return it
in the condition in which I found it so next time I can "borrow" another
one. I still have my eye on that Red Christmas Dress!

As an added treat for visiting me here on this perfect party day, I'm going
to share some pictures from Gone With The Wind I found at the fabulous
site Dr. Marco's High Quality Movie Scans. They have the most extensive
bunch of old movie/actor pictures I've seen. I had so much fun finding these
pictures from GWTW. Many of them I've never seen before, some are
from behind the scenes shots. I left out a few of the main characters
smoking which I thought was fascinating but politically incorrect these
days. It was quite strange to see Scarlett with a cigarette in her hand!
You can find the pictures at Dr. Marco's if you can't resist.

I thank you all for visiting my little corner of the Celebration Ball. I hope
you enjoyed your visit. Be sure to stop at The Scarlett Rose Garden to
find all the party people links.

Now, I must slip into something a bit more comfortable...

Awesome, awesome post! I esp. loved "the end", very clever!!!
Raphael is in my doll group. The repaints and doll portraits are simply amazing. The lighting, poses, and the colors... WOW. I love Noel Cruz's repaint work, but Raphael really has a talent and I wish I could send one of my dolls to the Philippines for a new face!!
Thanks so much for joining me today!

'Oh Ashley, Ashley' -

Sares, I love GWTW too. I have a confession. As a little girl I adored Scarlett. I know she was just mean and evil, but she was so beautiful. And I hated Melly, LOL. It was because she got Ashley who Scarlett "loved", and because she convicted me in my heart. I knew she was good, and how I should be, but I soooo wasn't able to be like her. Of course NOW I am sweet, demure, unselfish... hee hee. Well, one can aspire!

Anyhow, I really came by to say TY for coming by my blog. I was genuinely surprized by the kindness of people who comforted me about that loo fiasco. I guess less in the landfill is a good thing...

Sares! I love it!
I loved the fact you even changed your banner for today! It's beautiful!!!
Those old stage photos are awesome...this just makes me want to curl up on the couch and pop the movie in!!! My favorite two photos of Scarlett was when she was in the midst of all the guys and had their full attention...and the one of her shadow which portrays her "larger than life" attitude!!!! I just love that you captured all of those feelings about the movie!!!!!
What a great party, you were such a gracious hostess to have us join in on your fun of GWTW!!!!

That blue velvet gown is one of my favorites, well, I love them all, LOL

Years ago I saw a miniature Scarlett doll. She was perfection. The likeness was incredible.

I still think about that doll but $600.00 was a bit too pricey for me . . . .

This is one of my all-time favorites, too. I've actually lost count of how many times I've seen it. I have always thought V. Leigh was one of the most beautiful women of all times. So sad she had such problems in life.
Thanks for all the great photos....

You have a lovely blog and what a fantastic blog name and banner!

And what a wonderful set of some of the best GWTW pictures so beautifully laid out in one place.

Certainly understand if you don't answer - but how'd you get such a professional set of photos that show up so well. Everytime I try to blog a photo (other than digital photos I take) it does not even copy right. Hubby inisists I need a very expensive program to do that sort of thing.

Anyway I bookmarked your blog to come back and enjoy such a wonderful post again and again.

Hey Sares! :)

I remember watching this film...I didn't like the Scarlett O'Hara character in it. I pitied her. She was so full of deceit and doubt and pride altogether, and I think in the end, it left her with nobody. A cold soul on the inside. That's just my take of the movie. :) It left me wondering why so many people loved it!

My fav. movie would be Roman Holiday! :)

Lovely pictures! Lovely dress! And those sapphire earrings with diamonds surrounding them? I have those! ;-)

Hello, Sares,
That blue gown is stunning! I am in love with Rhett! Scarlet, that silly girl, should have not looked twice at Ashley Wilkes after laying her eyes on Rhett. I loved all these wonderful pictures you found. Brought back many memories for me. Vicki p.s. I love your blog banner!

Hi Sares! I just stumbled on your blog and saw the portraits.Thank you so much for your generous words about them. Nikki has likewise been so supportive and encouraging with her words. I wasn't able to participate in the blog ball because of time differences.

You are free to use any portrait from my blog Sares!
Beautiful post and beautiful photos of GWTW. They're all so clear! Once again, it was an honor to have been featured in your blog. Thank you so much!
