This is one of my all time most favoritest, bestest, most loved of ALL
time. This sweet potato recipe came from a Woman's Day magazine
over 15 years ago. It was lost in a cookbook for about 3 years at one point
and attempts were made to recreate it, but the efforts didn't quite pay off.
I guess it would taste different if you added orange juice...when it didn't
call for it. The recipe also doesn't call for marshmallows, but we always add
the mini ones at the end, just before we serve them. YUM.

These are a family favorite. My Grandma always used to make them at
the holidays and we still make them occasionally, however, ours don't
seem to taste as good as hers! Go figure!
Grandma G's Rolls
1 cup milk
1/2 cube margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
3 Tbsp yeast
2 tsp sugar
2 eggs beaten
6 cups flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cube margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
3 Tbsp yeast
2 tsp sugar
2 eggs beaten
6 cups flour
1. Melt butter, milk, salt and the 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan on the stove
2. Dissolve yeast, as per instructions on package, add the 2 tsp sugar and
eggs
3. Mix together with 6 cups of flour
4. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Set in a warm place
until the dough doubles in size. *On top a warm dryer or fridge works great.
5. Punch a hole in the dough to let the air out, then shape rolls and place
in a greased 9 by 12 baking dish, leaving a small amount of room between
each roll for rising.
6. Brush tops of rolls with melted butter
7. Bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees
8. Enjoy your delicious rolls!

Sares...they both sound delish!!!
Sares: You are making me hungry again. I am not much of a cook, even though that is my last name. I wish I was. Can you say a little prayer for me, I am a little down. Blessings, Martha

Those rolls were really good, I devoured the ones your mom sent home with me recently. Say, didn't you sprinkle sugar on the top of them? It seemed like something was on the top....something sweet and yummy?
I love your recipes! Nothing I make seems to come out quite as good as grandmas either! I think I am going to have to try to make those rolls! I just love rolls.
Thanks for joining the recipe swap.

Hi Sares,
Love the pictures! Your Grandma G's rolls sound delicious. I have always wanted to make rolls from scratch. I will definitely have to try your recipe. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
♥Ana
You know, I just love sweet potatoes and I hear they're really good for you too, so why do I only eat them at the holidays??? Thanksgiving's at my house this year so that looks like a keeper. Homemade rolls...I haven't tackled that yet, but wonders never cease, you know that! ha ha ♥
Well, there goes THAT diet! I have given up on homemade rolls, over the years of continued FLOPS, but yours look so good.
Have a lovely day. Come enter our TRIPLE GIVEAWAY, if you haven't. TTFN ~ Marydon
Hi Sares, yummy!!! I like anything sweet potato! I make bread sometimes but it comes out like a rock. I'm going to try making these rolls for thanksgiving (shhhhh don't tell anyone but I didn't sign up to the recipe swap even though I'm snatching these recipes). ****Jennifer quietly exits the blog with recipies under her arm**** ;-)
Hi Sares,

The rolls sound really yummy!
Two of my favorite family dishes as well. I have yet to succeed in making Grandma's rolls...I wonder what the secret ingredient was??? Maybe her love....
I will have to make that sweet potato casserole, as I love sweet potatoes. It must be delicious. They never have them around here, but next time I am in Letterkenny, I will get them.
Thanks!
Micki
