A Vintage Table Makeover

I FINALLY found a piece of furniture to makeover recently. I spotted a table and chair set on Craig's List and believe it or not, it belonged to my neighbor just around the corner! Too funny.

I knew right away I was going to paint the base since it was pretty marked up but decided to leave the top, although it is pretty marked up as well, I think it adds to it's character. I had planned to paint the base white but it was too stark and I felt the table needed a more vintage feel so I pulled out several nearly empty cans of Annie Sloan Paint and created a mixture of antibes green, duck egg blue and aubusson blue to get an antique style green.

Do you like? Should I have gone white? I think the table may be from the 30's or 40's. It has a sticker on it and says it's from Texas but I haven't done any online digging yet. The chairs aren't original to the table.

I painted an undercoat of pure white under the green paint to add extra depth. After I distressed the table and chairs on went a coat of clear wax with some dark wax accents.

The table has it's original castor wheels.

The two chairs have their original leather seats which I decided to leave instead of covering.

Thankfully I had enough paint, barely. I was SCRAPING the sides of the bowl because for the life of me I don't know if I could have mixed the exact same shade and have it match perfectly!  So she's all ready to go to Jazz as soon as I can get her hauled up there.

On a side note~In case you're wondering where I've been, my wireless is playing havoc with my laptop. Up until a month ago I had excellent internet speed. Lately I have been having problems getting on the internet and pages won't load at all. I haven't been able to nail down exactly what the issue is. I thought it was the router, but I am able to get on line very late at night and very early in the morning. Not my peak blogging hours to say the least. So I haven't been blogging but yesterday I heard Comcast will be in the neighborhood working on things and I was able to get online most of the day so now I'm wondering if they are updating their cables to allow for more bandwidth (more people to use it). So hopefully the problem is on their end so I won't have to put out any $ to fix things.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Hi Sares,
I'm so glad that you are back. I was wondering what had become of you and figured you were very busy keeping up your booth. I know I've been. Sometimes it can seem overwhelming but the payoff is always the satisfaction of finding something and making it wonderful.

Just as you did with this pretty table and chairs. I love the colors and it won't last long!

Hi Sares,

Welcome back and hope you get your internet connection working - can be very frustrating.
Love the table and chairs, the colour is great and know it will sell quickly.

Happy week

Well, hello! And yes, our tables are soooo very similar! Too funny! Honestly, I like yours better than mine! That green color is gorgeous and I love how you left the top, too! You seem to have good luck selling colorful furniture. At our store larger pieces only sell if they are painted in a neutral color. Why is that? It's a hot topic around here! And yet, you are not so far away...selling your beautiful, colorful furniture! I am getting a little bored with the neutrals! Thanks so much for stopping by this evening! I can't wait to pin your pretty table and chairs!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda

Been wondering where you were. At least it's given you time to produce a work of art...love that you left the seats as they were, I think it balances the colours well.

Isn't it funny how when the internet plays up we assume it's our equipment that's at fault, when a good deal of the time it's our provider!! Never mind Sares, your here now and let's hope the problem is solved.

Hugs,
XXX

Hello Scares~hopping in to wish you a wonderful Easter.
At this holiday I'm always flooded with memories of wearing fluffy dresses and petticoats with fluffy hair to match.

Getting these small glimpses of spring that have surfaced has me craving a weather change.
I'm more than ready to welcome a fresh season of color. Along with a few furniture redos project too.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

It really is such a joy to visit your blog! I think it's because every time I visit, it's better than the last time that I did! That's a good sign, a sign of excellence! :) You really do know how to jazz up this place, sareski! :)
