A makeover and a BIG purchase for Jazz!

Hi my loveleighs! About two weeks ago I found these end tables at the Goodwill and knew they were perfect for a makeover. I really liked the curves and they were solidly built. They needed a good scrubbing, a bit of sanding a whole lot of painting and WHAMMO...

Here's the AFTER

I had some serious painting difficulties with these. A weird glaze color and a lack of patience on my part created a bit more work for myself than intended but I like the end result. I realize the picture is not that great and the lighting wasn't the best, blame it on this dreary NW weather.

I started with a pale blue paint (I skipped the primer this go round) then added a glaze to give it an antique look but the glaze dried too red for my taste. Now I was in a quandry. Do I repaint the whole thing over in the light blue or try something else.

The something else won. I dry brushed a brighter turquoise over the top, letting a little bit of the glaze peek through in the corners and edges. Then the whole she-bang got a coat of wax.

I know this painting technique isn't for everyone, as is the color. I think it may be a love it or leave it kind of thing. I hope I'm not hauling them home in a few months to repaint! I hope SOMEONE out there loves them enough to smack down some cash! I  think they have a fun beachy/summery vibe. They have yet to make it to the shop as I am waiting for someone to pick up a layaway purchase so I have the room for them.

This vintage art deco table went in last week. It's a cute little piece. I know it's hard to tell but the color is a light aqua. Darn rotten lighting again.

And here is my BIG buy of the weekend. This dreamy, chippy old shelf. I went on the prowl at some local events and I knew I had a pretty good shot at finding a big display piece that would work with my budget. If you remember a few weeks ago I was bemoaning the fact that we were selling furniture left and right and I was wishing we had just ONE piece we didn't have to worry about losing, as we have a lot of smalls that need to be transferred each time a big piece sells. It's a bit of a hassle.

So, on the hunt I went and just as I had hoped, I found this piece at the exact place I was hoping to find something. It was a bit of a challenge because the place was packed and stuff was flying out of there left and right. I told the gal I wanted it so she would put a sold sticker on it before I had QUITE made up my mind. It was the most expensive thing I've bought for Jazz. It took me 20 minutes to make up my mind and go for it. I loved it and was pretty sure it was an excellent price.

It got moved into the Jazz booth on Saturday and we already had 2 people interested while we were setting it up. Call me crazy but I am not ready to let it go yet. Unless someone is willing to offer me a very very steep price!

So for now she sits, looking pretty and making our stuff look great, marked NFS. She can stick around for a bit and observe all our customers, the comings and goings!

The center vignette after we moved things around last weekend.

So All That Jazz has been recently "fluffed" and I await the next "go round"!
Hope you all have a loveleigh week, with some sunshine sprinkled in there SOMEWHERE!

Oh Sares Sweetie...
What a gorgeous share tonight. I love, Love, LOVE your makeovers. The color is beachy and it is so absolutely divine. Just like so many things, the right person has to come along, and they will be out the door in an instant. Keep us posted.

Ooh I love that chippy display cabinet. It is so gorgeous and if she could talk, can you imagine the stories she would tell us about what she has held over the years, and who she has worked for? How interesting she looks. Like a piece of history. She is gorgeous Sares.

Your whole booth looks so inviting, and would definitely hold ones interest. It would draw me right on in to shop. I see some darling French pillows, and a cute little fan. My so many things to see sweet friend. A beautiful display.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Hi Sares,
I like the paint technique that you used on the end tables. I like the color and I know you are hoping that a customer will too.
I have two end tables in my booth right now that are an antique shade of pale green, they haven't sold yet and I'm getting worried because I fear it's the color. But, you never know.
The shelf piece is wonderful and I don't blame you for holding on to it for awhile. It does showcase your wares wonderfully.

Hope you have a sell out!

hugs
Sissie

Sares, lighting never takes away from the beautiful goodies you find or create. I am in awe of your beautiful shop, as always. If only I lived in the NW!!! Do you make the pillows? I especially love them. Like I said before, I would be broke if I lived near you so it's just as well...more for someone else:)

Tara. your shop is GORGEOUS! with so many wonderful treasures tucked everywhere! You have done a beautiful job in your decor. So love the shelving, I've done the same thing ... just not QUITE ready to part with a piece.

You did a wonderful job in the redo of the pieces. What with the beach 'just around the corner', someone will snap those table quickly.

I apologize for not getting back to you, & so many. We've just been loaded what with the construction & now the gardening.

Best to you sweet friend.
