Why I've Been MIA...

I've been working on a new project.

My Mom, Aunt, Cousin and I have been contemplating combining our
creative forces and participating in local craft fairs, flea markets and bazaars.
We finally bit the bullet and decided
to rent a space in a local antique shop instead.
We've set ourselves a deadline so we've been busy
hustling to get everything
done before next month.

The plan is to buy things cheap at thrift shops, estate and garage sales and
then re-purpose them to sell. We've found that the $1 Store is a great place to
stock up on goodies too!

We are slowly building our supplies, who can afford to buy everything at
once? Crafting
supplies are so EXPENSIVE! The stamps alone can break
the bank.

Tools of the trade, vintage doilies and linens, en masse!

Anybody know why these simple Styrofoam rings cost an arm and a leg?
We've discovered it's better to buy them broken for a discount and then
glue or tape them, we're cheap that way! Proud of it too.

$1 Store goodies, pre-bling.

That's how I've been spending my spare time and my blogging time. I'll
show you some of our creations in a later post. I think it will be fun, for a while,
before it turns into work anyway! I know quite a few of you have spaces
in shops, does anyone have any hints, tips or warnings? Any help we could
get would be fantastic!

So if I happen to disappear for days at a time, I'll be working my
fingers to the bone at this new venture on the horizon. Never fear,
I'll be back in time!

And then there's THIS.

A sure sign Spring is on the way...
the birds are back in town.

I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!

Oh Sares, you are going to have soooo much fun, fun for a purpose! And to create and sell with your Mom and Aunt make it all the more FUN!

I'll just live my dream of owning a shop through you. Even though it's just a little space, it'll be YOUR space and you get to decorate it, make things and stage beautiful little vignettes...oooooo I'm so excited for you!!!! The possiblities!!!!

All I'm asking is you have to take me there sometimes okay? Since I live so far away, you will have to take me along through photos!!!! Promise???

Since I don't "own" a shop, I can't give you any tips on that end but as a shopper and a love for all things pretty, my biggest tip that I can give you is...it's all in the PRESENTATION & PACKAGING. I don't care if it's a roll of toilet paper you are selling...if it's packaged beautifully, it WILL SELL! :)

Have fun Sares...this is awesome and I wish you much prosperity, not only financially but whole-heartedly too!!!!

I'm so excited for you :)
But please don't stay away too long...always pop in and post a hello so we can visit, k?

Oh what fun you will have. Can't wait to see some of the things you put in there....so please share them with us. I'm with you on the cheap...the cheaper the better!!! And then that's where you make your money. I have bought something for $2.00 one time at a yard sale and sold it for $20.00. So cool...so fun!
Good luck and most of all have fun!

Hello, dear Sares,
Congratulations on your new creative adventure!! I think this will be such fun for you and your family! I noticed some French items. Anything French, seems to be selling really well. Also the decorated bottles seem to be very popular. Wishing you the very best always! Vicki

So that is it, that is what the Queen is doing...perfect for you and so fun.
I have alot of good ideas for you and advice. I've owned a 6000 sq ft consignment shop, I've had many booths in the area and I currently have a showcase in our local antique mall. I will email you Sares with some tidbits that will help you! I'm also a marketing director so you have me on your team!

What great news! I know how expensive it is to buy craft items, as since I went back into paper crafting, etc, I have been ordering tons. Stamps are expensive, and I will have to build my collection up slowly.
